This is an Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe General Electric 44 Tonner. The "44" designates the weight in tons, hence "44 Tonner." ATSF bought 9 GE 44 tonners from 1942 to 1944 numbered from #460 to #468. Many roads bought 44 tonners and the were probably built over a long period of time in the 40's and into the 50's. The 44 toners were rated at 360 hp and as such mainly saw light duty service such as switching a small number of cars on level ground. WARM's 44 tonner was recently acquired from the US government and was stationed at the Marine Corps base at Nebo, California.
